Dress on the course & in the clubhouse

On the Course and Practice Areas

Members & guests are requested to take pride in their Club and should dress and conduct themselves in a respectable manner at all times. Shorts must be tailored and designed to be worn with a belt, and when tailored walk shorts are worn, either full length hose or predominantly white socks above ankle height must be worn. Golf shoes must be worn. Shirts must have a collar and be neatly tucked into waistbands except during summer months when appropriately designed shirts may be left untucked.

Not Permitted on Course

Denim jeans and shorts, camouflage trousers and shorts, tracksuits, abbreviated shorts, long socks around the ankles, thongs, sandals, gym boots, collarless T-shirts, sweatshirts, singlets tops or shirts with advertising larger than pocket size.

In the Clubhouse

Members & guests must dress in a neat and tidy manner. Sandals and boat shoes without socks may be worn between 1 November to 30 April each year, except on nominated formal occasions. Shoes and socks must be worn at all other times.

Not Permitted

Thongs, work boots, sandshoes or footwear in an untidy, dirty or poor condition. Shoes worn on the Course will not be permitted to be worn in the Clubhouse after play (except in the Spike Bar during the playing of a round). Metal spikes are strictly prohibited on the balcony. Relaxed rules apply in the Spike Bar on weekdays between the hours of 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. This is not intended to be an exhaustive description of what is acceptable or not. At all times the judgement of the Board is final.

Launceston Golf Club – Local Rules

To be read in conjunction with the Rules of Golf and any Temporary Local Rules.

  1. OUT OF BOUNDS (Rule 18.2)
    1. Beyond any boundary fence.
  1. PENALTY AREAS (Rule 17)

RED

  • The rivulet that runs parallel to the 10th
  • Ditches running parallel to fairways on holes 1, 5, 6, 8, 10, 16 & 18.
  • Dams adjacent to holes 10, 12, 13, 14. As an alternative option, a dropping zone available on hole 12.

YELLOW

  • Ditches/drains running from Opossum Road (Southern Boundary) to the Boundary Creek on Holes 4, 5, 7, 11 & 15.
  • Spillway on hole 13. As an alternative option, there is a dropping zone available on hole 13.

NOTE: Check Local Rule guidelines on notice at tee.

  1. MOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (15.2)

All hoops, pegs, and ropes defining protected areas and bunker rakes.

  1. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS (16.1)

Staked trees and shrubs, all signage, all pegs defining penalty areas and distance markers, all satellite boxes, sprinkler heads, fence beside the 1st tee, all artificial and rock walls around tees.

  1. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITIONS (Rule 16.1)

Ground Under Repair

Relief may be taken:

  • Defined by white pegs, signs or white broken/unbroken lines.
    • All artificially surfaced pathways (which includes the pathway leading to the 13th green and path on hole 12 that passes the ladies tee and proceeds down the gully).
  • Fallen trees with roots attached and material piled for removal from lopped trees.
  • Garden beds and tee surrounds along with gardens and practice putting greens around the clubhouse and car parks
  • Exposed tree roots on the fairway that interfere with swing only. There is no interference if the tree roots interfere with stance only.
    • The implement sheds and areas surrounding them.
    • The service road that commences at the southernmost practice green and crosses the 1st and 8th fairways and runs parallel to the 2nd, 19th, 17th, 11th holes and includes the top path on the 12th hole where it ends at the designated point (identified by a railway sleeper) on this road.

IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS CLOSE TO THE PUTTING GREEN (E.G. SPRINKLER HEADS)

In addition to the types of interference described in Rule 16.1a, interference also exists if an immovable obstruction is: on the player’s line of play, and is within two club-lengths of the putting green, and is within two club-lengths of the ball. (Exception – There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable). See Model Local Rule F-5.

  1. DROPPING ZONES

When a player is using a dropping zone, the ball must be dropped in the dropping zone and it must come to rest in the dropping zone.

PENALTY STATEMENT

Unless otherwise noted, the penalty for a breach of a Local Rule is the general penalty (stroke play – two strokes, match play – loss of hole).
